Courtship is described in the dictionary as a way of attracting the attentions of the opposite sex or person in the form of flattery. Traditionally courting might invlove writing letters to the desired, sending flowers, poems, love songs and gifts.

In wikipedia we have it described as traditionally being 'the wooing of a female by a male and this includes activities like dating (going out for dinner, movies,  picnic, or just hanging out) along with other activities like meeting online (often referred to as virtual dating).

Other modern forms of courtship might include chatting online of the sending of messages back and forth or simply conversing over a phone!
